I am Enough.

If life isn’t challenging you–you aren’t really living.

*I never asked to be a feminist/I never asked to be oppressed because I have a vagina/identify as female gender–it just happened much like how life materializes and dissolves.

February 2011
It was a banquet, a teacher’s dinner somewhere in one of the most polluted towns of Shenzhen, China.
I asked Annie, [the woman in charge of me for my experience teaching English in China, last year]
“Is it okay if I smoke?” “No you better not,” Was her response. “In China it’s inappropriate for a woman to smoke in public,” saying this while literally every man at every table is puffing away and blowing smoke in our face.

Fast forward a year later I happened to be dating a Chinese guy, David Lu, who told me I can’t wear tank tops to hang clothes in our own apartment because if his friends see me he will ‘lose face.’

&&Somewhere rush limbaugh called Miss Sandra Fluke a, ‘Slut’ because she’s educated–she equates a man–finally–so that makes her a, ‘Slut.’

Well I’ve decided to turn my back on society. & do as I damn well please. –The only person I need to be obedient to –is myself.

One coworker was shocked I shaved my head and didn’t think it was right for a woman to do so and asked me ‘why?’ I told him there’s a laundry list of reasons, an entire scroll but that’s not the point. The point is, I shouldn’t have to have a reason & I shaved my head because I simply can.

I wanted the experience.

Recently my new school [this year] had an assembly, a formal assembly, though some people treated it as formal and some didn’t. They told me I needed to cover my shaved head in someway. I wore a headband. my headmaster and headmistress couldn’t go on enough about how beautiful I was so when I said well, “May I take this off then?” their response: “NO NO NO, I DON’T WANT” &&Here men have the EXACT same haircut as me and yet they don’t have to cover their head.

I’m not even going to mention the current ‘war on women,’ going on in the States right now.

Oppression is alive and well.

“Forgive them, they know not what they do.”
