Beijing[r]

Just went out with my new friend Garrett in Beijing we found skewered lamb the metro, starbucks and a construction bank!

Could have died when a car almost ran us over. [not even kidding] The drivers are terrifying here. So there’s a subway sandwhich place, seven eleven and kfc everywhere.

We got starbucks and apparently it’s great to have coffee jelly in a frappuccino. Not a big fan.

Learned about a club not to go to in Shenzhen, “Chocolate.” Will not be going there…it’s partly owned by the mob.

It was a gorgeous day to sit outside.

One of these days we’re going to find the french wal-mart — carrefour.

We learned a Chinese idiom yesterday. Most of the idioms here have to do with the Great Wall. This one is…

Lang yan qi. Our teacher didn’t explain it though. Literally means Wolf Smoke Rises in four directions. Apparently this was a signal when Mongols were coming they would set Wolf poo on fire in all four directions because it burned straight up and for a long time. Our teacher never explained why people say this and what it actually means. We like to think it means, “Shit’s hit the fan.”

Cheers!
